IBM Claims Blockchain Can Power ‘Open Scientific Research’ in New Patent Filing

A patent application by IBM published on Thursday claimed that the process can be acquired in blockchain for doing scientific research.

Directed by a team at IBM’s Watson Research Center, the patent program offers a vision for energetic cooperation – one where investigators can monitor their job in institutional boundaries. This is another non-financial program of this distributed-holder technology, which IBM has recently championed.

The program titled “Blockchain for Open Scientific Research” –  was filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in December 2017. IBM investigators Jae-Wook Ahn, Maria Chang, Patrick Watson, and Ravindranath Kokku are recorded in the historians.

According to the patent, “Now, there are restricted programs that allow to share information about scientific research and to demonstrate clear data collection and evaluation phases. The platform that exists, lack the necessary mechanisms and controls to permit for reliable data because there are only a few options to ensure that the information will probably be resistant to alteration.”

IBM is not the only group that is working on deploying distributed account technologies in the scientific world. The Berlin-based Think Tank, Blockchain for Science, organized its first global conference this week.

the blockchain-flavored patent just one of several for Big Blue. According to the figures printed in September, IBM was supporting only Chinese online giant Alibaba in the amount of patent filing related to Blockchain. The 89 figure offered at that time has increased in the last two months.
