After the photos of former AFL coach Dean Laidley leaked, A Victoria Police senior constable has been suspended from the force in an “appalling” act of misconduct.
The Dean Laidley was arrested yesterday in relation to an alleged incident outside a St Kilda address about 9pm. He was later charged with stalking.
After this a Laidley’s photo got viral in which he can be seen wearing long blonde wig and a dress. it is reported that the senior constable sent this photo via WhatsApp to at least six other people. It remains unclear whether the six were police officers or members of the public.
Deputy Commissioner Shane Patton today described the privacy breach, which occurred inside a police custody area, as “totally unacceptable”.”The interview of the officer has only just occurred a short time ago. We understand the officer has been cooperative and remorseful,” Dep. Comm. Patton said.
“The conduct should not have occurred by the officer. [It’s] totally unacceptable, totally appalling conduct.”
Asked if transphobia was a factor, he says it’s too early to say but everything will be investigated.
